Ultimate Gambit

I have now had audition dates for 3 of the drama schools I applied to! 2 of these are in the first two weeks of February :s
I have decided on my pieces, but still havent had chance to learn them all – starting to get very scared!

Got to knuckle down and learn them with all my spare time now, so if i dont post in a few days/weeks – that’s the reason! There’s only so much space in my head…

Help!! I’ve been given an audition and its in…3 weeks

Between now and then, i have to find 2 audition pieces, one classical and one modern… arghhh! Its all too real!

I sent my first applications to Drama School today! I’m both really excited by this and really nervous It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for so long, but never really properly considered that it might actually happen, and now that it is, its quite scary!

Not least because of the cost of it – you’re looking at more than £10,000 for a years course! I really don’t know where i’m going to get the cash to cover it if i do get in… guess you may see me on a few street corners! Failing that, i guess i’ll have to take out some pretty hefty loans. Just hope it pays off!

Of course, i have to get in first, and competition in this industry isnt slim. Guess i’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed
The worst thing is that even before you get anywhere, you have to pay a £30 audition fee to these places – it seems the whole nature of the business involves shelling out money! It’s no wonder there are loads of unemployed and seriously broke actors out there! I can’t think of any other course that you have to pay purely to try for the chance of doing it. Not only that, but there’s the cost of the trains to the auditions, the time filling out the applications, and the days holiday i’m going to have to take to attend the auditions! Ah well – hopefully it will be worth it!

I have to find four monologues (two classical and two modern), no longer than two minutes each, within my age range. The classical ones have to be from Shakespeare (i hate that man! :p). So, if anyone has any advice on what to do, please help!

So, as many as you will know, I’m best man for my mate Jon’s wedding in the summer, and we’re going to try on suits this morning! Although this isnt especially exciting in itself, i am really excited about being a best man! I’ll be able to die happy once it’s done
